Instruct adult students, ages 16 and older, using program-selected text and curriculum.
Develop lesson plans that provide instruction using a variety of strategies, including lecture, individualized, discussion, project, computer-assisted, student-led, etc.
Utilize on-going assessment and counsel students about their progress.
Individualize instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Assist with registration, Student Success week and student goal setting.
Maintain timesheets and other student records as required by the program and turn in paperwork in a timely manner.
Maintain professional and academic competencies and participate in professional development activities.
Assist Assistant ABE Director with updating the ABE policies and procedures manual
Ensure quality control and consistency of ABE documentation for all activities.
Act as liaison to other departments regarding ABE inquiries.
Serve on department, college-wide, and community committees.
Assistant ABE Director in reviewing and evaluating continuing programs.
Familiarize self with community resources, individual tutoring services, employment resources available at New Mexico Workforce Connection and talk regularly to his/her class about these resources.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Understanding of organization-related issues; computer proficiency in Windows environment appropriate to position; excellent time management, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills working with students, colleagues, staff, supervisors, and the community; ability to complete multiple tasks and high volume of work; mature, professional attitude and appearance; openness to continuing learning and upgrading of skills.
· A Bachelor degree in education, human services, sociology, psychology, social work, guidance and counseling or closely related field.
· Knowledge of subject areas in GED; of instructional methods, techniques, and equipment; of preparation and planning of course work; of sources of information and instructional materials.
· GED teaching experience.
